Rising actress Hong Hwa Yeon has officially joined the cast of SBS’s upcoming drama “Treasure Island” (literal translation) as the female lead!
On October 1, it was confirmed that Hong Hwa Yeon will take on the lead role in the highly anticipated drama.
“Treasure Island,” which is slated to air in 2025, will tell the story of a man who manages to hack a political slush fund account worth 2 trillion won (approximately $1.5 billion) and the man who kills him without knowing he’s been hacked—thus accidentally losing the entire 2 trillion won. The drama will be penned by “Money Flower” writer Lee Myung Hee and helmed by “Military Prosecutor Doberman” director Jin Chang Gyu.
The drama stars Park Hyung Sik and Heo Joon Ho in the lead roles, with former Oh My Girl member Gong Jiho also joining the cast. Hong Hwa Yeon is set to portray the female lead Yeo Eun Nam, though further details about her character still remain under wraps.
Notably, Hong Hwa Yeon secured the role by surpassing a fierce 100-to-1 competition, adding to the excitement surrounding her performance in the series.
