“Anxiety isn’t a choice,” said the ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ alum
Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave is sharing her experience with anxiety, hoping to help others going through the same.
On Jan. 6, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 43, posted on her Instagram Stories about her latest struggle in the middle of the night.
“Woke up today at 3am with raging anxiety. I don’t say this for pity — it’s for anyone else who woke up with any of the following,” she said before sharing symptoms of anxiety disorders.
“Trouble concentrating or making decisions. Feeling irritable, tense or restless,” she wrote. “Experiencing nausea or abdominal distress. Having heart palpitations. Sweating, trembling or shaking. Trouble sleeping. Having a sense of impending danger, panic or doom.”
Mellencamp thanked her team for holding her accountable when it comes to sticking to the self-care that keeps her anxiety down.
“We are ok and we will get over this hump,” she said before listing off what eases her anxiety. She mentions meditating, working out, cold plunges, fresh air, setting boundaries, and being able to hug someone that she loves.
The Two Ts In A Pod co-host also said she makes “gratitude lists,” which include being grateful for her health, kids, going to work, and people who make her laugh and understand that “anxiety isn’t a choice.”
Over the past couple years, Mellencamp has been transparent about her multiple bouts of melanoma and how the journey has caused her a lot of anxiety.
She previously shared a tearful video on Instagram, telling her followers, “I’ve been running the gamut of emotions since my latest melanoma diagnosis — and yes, there are moments I just want to stay in bed and ignore the world.”
“But the world still turns no matter what, so getting out there and moving my body, releasing my emotions, fixing my mindset — that’s the key,” she added.
While in tears, Mellencamp explained that staying active helps her “let things go.”
