Despite the rain lasting for many hours, tens of thousands of fans stayed until the end to cheer for Dan Truong at his live concert celebrating 30 years of singing. The sea of glowing lightsticks illuminated the outdoor stage, creating an emotional atmosphere and becoming a special highlight of the night “30 years of Dan Truong – Marks of youth.”
A sea of umbrella before showtime
On the evening of November 1, the live concert “30 years of Dan Truong – Marks of youth” took place at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (Dong Hoi, Dong Anh, Hanoi), drawing tens of thousands of eager fans. Despite the continuous rain lasting for hours, the venue was bustling from early on. Audiences wearing raincoats and holding umbrellas lined up to enter the outdoor stage area with great excitement.
A small exhibition recreating milestones in the artistic journey of the 7X-born singer attracted many visitors. Families, groups of young people, and even middle-aged fans shared that they had long been waiting for this concert, seeing it as a special occasion to look back on three decades of connection with Dan Truong’s music.
When the main program officially began, the aerial rope performance combined with the medley “Buoc Chan Le Loi” ignited the atmosphere. Cheers from tens of thousands of fans under the rain created a powerful bond between the artist and the audience.
Emotional confession moments
On stage, Dan Truong expressed his gratitude to the supporting partners and to the fans who had traveled from many places to Hanoi for the show. His emotional words as he spoke about his career journey created a heartfelt and reflective atmosphere. The singer shared that during the days preparing for the concert, it rained continuously — the rain mixed with his tears as he faced accumulated pressure. The love of his fans, he said, was the driving force that kept him steadfast in bringing the 30th-anniversary live concert to life.
The artist also presented bouquets to the composers who have accompanied him throughout his career, including Minh Vy, Le Quang, Quoc Cuong, Ly Huynh Long, and Dong Thien Duc — a gesture of gratitude to those who helped shape his musical identity.
The appearance of People’s Artist Xuan Bac and U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper also drew warm applause from the audience. Their heartfelt congratulations added a sense of honor and significance to this special night.
Outstanding collaborations
Throughout the program, many collaborative performances left a strong impression. The most remarkable was the duet between Dan Truong and his son, Mathis Thien Tu, in “Rise for You – Dong Mau Lac Hong.” The young boy had returned to Vietnam before the concert to rehearse with his father, creating a beautiful moment as the two stood side by side on stage. The performance carried not only musical value but also conveyed a touching sense of connection between two generations.
The night’s emotions deepened with the reunion of Dan Truong and Cam Ly in “Con Mua Mua Dong,” a new composition by musician Minh Vy. The audience erupted in applause as the familiar duo began to sing — a beloved pair whose harmony has been cherished for many years.
Hoa Minzy delivered “Mong Tinh Si” along with heartfelt words about growing up with Dan Truong’s music. Quoc Thien recalled childhood memories of writing letters to his idol. Trung Quang, Dan Truong’s protégé, shared about the intense rehearsals leading up to the concert. Rhyder brought youthful energy with “Tinh Hoa Xu Bac.” Rapper Den created an exciting crossover with “Hai Trieu Nam” before joining Dan Truong for “Bai Nay Chill Phet” and “Loi Nho.” Familiar hits such as “Ngoi Sao Bay,” “Bien Nguoi Nhan Gian,” “Anh Phai Lam Sao,” “Dung Yeu Ky Uc,” and “Thanh Xuan Cua Toi” had the crowd singing along. Despite the falling rain, thousands of hands lifted into the air, forming a sea of radiant lights that blanketed the stage.
Memorable post-show impressions
As the concert came to a close, tens of thousands of people remained in place, raising their lightsticks toward the stage, waiting for Dan Truong’s final farewell. Many shared that the rain did not dampen their excitement, as this was a rare opportunity to witness their beloved artist express his gratitude after three decades of dedication to the public.
Mr. Hoang Tuan, the producer and representative of the organizing committee, expressed his pride that the live concert attracted tens of thousands of in-person attendees and thousands more watching through cinema broadcasts. He noted that every performance had been carefully prepared to deliver a complete emotional experience for the audience.
Amid the early winter rain, the sight of thousands lingering until the very last moment became one of the most moving highlights of the night. It was not only a gesture of support for Dan Truong at this special milestone but also a testament to the enduring bond between the singer and generations of fans over the past thirty years.
