Watch: Kim Hye Yoon Is A Nine-Tailed Fox Who Becomes Entangled With Soccer Star Lomon In Teaser For New Drama

SBS has unveiled its first glimpse of upcoming drama “Human from Today” (literal translation)!

During the 2024 SBS Drama Awards, SBS aired the first teaser for “Human from Today,” a new fantasy rom-com starring Kim Hye Yoon and Lomon.

Kim Hye Yoon will play the role of gumiho (mythical nine-tailed fox) Eun Ho, who—unlike the traditional gumiho that bewitch men and eat their livers in hopes of becoming human—lives a carefree life while avoiding men and good deeds out of fear of becoming human. However, due to an unexpected accident involving narcissistic soccer player Kang Si Yeol (Lomon), Eun Ho suddenly winds up becoming human against her will.

The new teaser begins by asking, “Didn’t gumiho originally long to become human?” However, in contrast to the traditional lore about gumiho, the bubbly and free-spirited Eun Ho loves her life exactly the way it is. “Living life as a gumiho means enjoying only the fun parts of [human] life, without any of the suffering,” she says. Eun Ho then explains that she refuses to do any good deeds, because she doesn’t want to accidentally wind up becoming human by inadvertently accumulating too much good will.

When Kang Si Yeol makes thoughtful gestures like feeding Eun Ho or covering her shoulders with his jacket, Eun Ho declares that she knows what he’s up to. “A human male putting the moves on a human female,” she says. “Flirting!” However, Kang Si Yeol fiercely denies it, scoffing, “Are you crazy?” Eun Ho confidently replies, “With my looks and charm, your falling for me is a given. After all, as you know, I’m a gumiho.”

However, Eun Ho’s perfect life as a gumiho is soon turned upside down. Someone warns her, “Eventually, a moment will come when you have to make a choice. You’ll have to decide whether to become human or disappear forever.”

Warning her to keep her temper under control, someone hands Eun Ho an identification card with her new human name Ok Soon. But when Kang Si Yeol calls her by her new name, she angrily protests, “What?! I’m not Ok Soon!”
