Drew Barrymore and Valerie Bertinelli are ready to go to bat for a TikToker who recently went viral after sharing her terrible dating experience.
The daytime talk show host and One Day at a Time alum reacted strongly during a segment on The Drew Barrymore Show on Wednesday when they, Taye Diggs, Oliver Hudson, and dating coach Damona Hoffman were speaking with audience members about their dating and relationship concerns. The stars both became visibly outraged after a TikToker named Maggie Smith recalled having a potential suitor cancel their date because her “weight” just two minutes into it.
“What?!” a disgusted Barrymore shouted, while Bertinelli gasped and Diggs let out an audible groan. The camera then cut over to Hoffman, who could be seen rolling her eyes at the man’s behavior.

“That is so immensely horrendous on his character. What a…” Bertinelli replied, before cutting herself off and putting a finger to her lips.
Smith explained that her brain went “blank” after hearing his admission, saying that she was initially excited about their first date because they’d had a good conversation beforehand but that she left feeling crushed.
“You dodged a bullet,” Barrymore swore as Bertinelli shook her head. “He is a real time-saver — his efficiency. But the needing to be cruel… I can’t really justify that or understand it, and I’m okay with that because I don’t really understand that kind of behavior, nor will I ever.”
Bertinelli interjected, “He will never find happiness — never.”
Barrymore agreed. “This is clearly an issue with him,” she said before turning it over to Hudson, Diggs, and Hoffman for their advice because, she said, “I think you know where Val and I stand.”
Hoffman praised Smith for speaking up about her experience, adding that her date’s behavior has sadly become normalized and needed to be called out.

But it went deeper than that for Bertinelli. “It’s more about, yes, behavior. There’s no reason he needed to end it by saying that. Absolutely not. But, more importantly, what it speaks to: his character and that he finds somebody that… he can’t…,” she paused, becoming frustrated. “I’m sorry, my mind is just going a million miles a minute because it’s just… that he has so little character that he thinks having a little bit of weight is gonna make you unattractive to spend time with? To converse with? To get to know? To know what your heart is like?”
She concluded, “Now I just feel sorry for what a small human being he is!”
Determined to repair the situation, Barrymore revealed that she would be sending Smith and her best friend to Thailand so that they could go make much better memories together.
“You and your best friend go to Thailand,” she said, “and have the best time ever.”
