A new “dream” launched by designer Luc Gia Nhat at Vietnam NextGen Fashion Era 2

With the collection “Mot Giac Mong” (A Dreamlike Reverie), designer Luc Gia Nhat explores the personal aspirations that persist beneath the rhythms of everyday life. Drawing on the ideas of dreams and individual choices, the designer translates emotions into silhouettes, movement, and a distinctive fashion language. The collection was presented at the Grand Fashion Show – Vietnam NextGen Fashion Era 2, held on October 9, 2026, at Thu Thiem Riverstage in Ho Chi Minh City.

A new dream coming to the Grand Fashion Show

On October 9, 2026, the Grand Fashion Show – Vietnam NextGen Fashion Era 2 took place at Thu Thiem Riverstage in Ho Chi Minh City, featuring young designers from educational institutions across Vietnam.

Among the participants was Luc Gia Nhat, representing Hanoi Architectural University, who had achieved outstanding results with his graduation project in Fashion Design. At the event, he presented his collection “Mot Giac Mong,” bringing his creative work from an academic setting to the fashion runway.

Luc Gia Nhat’s participation highlighted the role of Vietnam NextGen Fashion Era 2 in bridging education and industry practice, providing young designers with opportunities to showcase their work to the public and gain exposure to the professional fashion environment.

Inspiration from deep-lying desires

“Mot Giac Mong” begins with a familiar experience: everyone has personal aspirations they hold onto amid the realities of everyday life. These may be choices still under consideration, paths they have yet to pursue, or goals they continue to nurture over time. Luc Gia Nhat drew inspiration from the work of artisans in traditional craft villages. In particular, images of flames heating copper and beads of sweat on craftspeople’s faces became the conceptual foundation of the collection.

The title “Mot Giac Mong” evokes the distance between a person’s present reality and what they hope to achieve. The collection draws attention to the inner world that often remains hidden from view, where thoughts and aspirations gradually shape personal decisions. The story therefore begins with individual emotions but expands into a broader theme: recognizing what one truly desires and choosing how to move forward.

Convergence of traditional art and contemporary design

In terms of visual design, “Mot Giac Mong” translates abstract emotional states into a distinct fashion language through artistic eveningwear and romantic styles.

Gia Nhat uses a predominantly warm, muted color palette, ranging from mysterious black and copper brown to bronze gold and ivory beige, evoking the surfaces of metal transformed through heat treatment. A key technical feature of the collection lies in its integration of traditional artistic influences into modern silhouettes. Building on structured corsets that firmly contour the upper body, alongside strapless, halter-neck, and one-shoulder gowns, the designer applies surface treatments that create the visual effect of raised carvings featuring classic cloud motifs.

The contrast between materials is particularly striking. Sculptural details resembling metal and ceramic adorn the bust, waist, and hips, set against voluminous layers of pleated tulle, sheer mesh fabrics embellished with sparkling beads in a lattice pattern, and fringe that sways with every step. The overall look is completed with coordinated accessories bearing a strong East Asian aesthetic, including round handbags with long tassels, jade bracelets, oversized earrings, and high updos styled into flowing, ribbon-like curves.

A dream come true at Grand Fashion Show

The collection “Mot Giac Mong” was presented at the Grand Fashion Show – Vietnam NextGen Fashion Era 2 on October 9, 2026, at Thu Thiem Riverstage in Ho Chi Minh City. The event provided designer Luc Gia Nhat with an opportunity to introduce his concept through a live runway presentation, transforming the story of personal aspirations from a written description into an experience on the catwalk.

On the runway, garments are experienced through their design and the movements of the models wearing them. In “Mot Giac Mong,” these two elements are closely tied to the themes of emotions, desires, and personal choices.

From aspirations that exist beyond the realities of everyday life to the message of freedom of choice, “Mot Giac Mong” explores the relationship between what people have and what they hope to attain. At Vietnam NextGen Fashion Era 2, Luc Gia Nhat’s collection offers another perspective on individuality and dreams in fashion through its silhouettes, movement, and cohesive narrative.
