Tickets to watch Tet fireworks on Hanoi rooftop cafés, restaurants nearly sold out

Restaurants, hotels, and cafes with prime locations for watching Lunar New Year’s Eve fireworks in Hanoi are selling tickets for up to VND1.3 million (US$52) per person, with most venues expected to be fully booked in the coming days.

For the Lunar New Year, grand fireworks displays will be held at 30 locations across Hanoi, including those in Hoan Kiem, Ha Dong, Tay Ho and Nam Tu Liem Districts. The shows will begin at midnight on Jan. 29, 2025, marking the start of the Lunar New Year.

Hoang Anh, a resident of Ha Dong District, plans to watch the fireworks with five friends at a café near Hoan Kiem Lake. She said that establishments with good views in this area typically require advance reservations and do not accept walk-in customers.

“The café we booked is close to a fountain near Hoan Kiem Lake where a firework show would be displayed, so the price is VND1.2 million per person, which includes a drink, mineral water, and snacks,” she said.

From Jan. 21, many restaurants, hotels, and cafes near the fireworks display sites in Hanoi have begun selling tickets.

Coffee Club, a café overlooking Hoan Kiem Lake, accepts reservations with prices starting from VND600,000–800,000 per person, depending on whether the seating is indoors or outdoors. The ticket price includes a drink, fresh fruit, and snacks, aligning with prices at other cafés in the area.

A representative of the café said that seats are still available but are expected to sell out during the week as demand surges.

Torii Rooftop located near Van Quan Lake in Ha Dong District is selling tickets for VND300,000–400,000 per person, which includes a drink, snacks, and a lucky gift bag.

Thai Duy, the café’s manager, mentioned that reservations are still open but urged customers to book early due to high demand as Tet approaches.

“On New Year’s Eve, we had to turn away about 50 customers because we were fully booked,” he added.

For restaurants and hotels with premium views of the fireworks, ticket prices start at around VND1 million per person.

Parosand Restaurant in Tay Ho District is selling tickets for VND1 million, which include drinks and snacks like fried shrimp chips, french fries, and smoked pork.

Nguyen Le Anh Duc, manager of La Nueva Hotel in the Lo Su area of Hoan Kiem District, said the hotel is hosting Lunar New Year’s Eve parties at its Estrella restaurant located on the 13th, 14th, and 15th floors.

This year, the restaurant offers combo packages for two, four, or eight people, priced from VND4.5 million to VND12 million. Individual tickets are priced at nearly VND1.3 million per person and include wine, cold cuts, and soft drinks.

Duc acknowledged that prices are “slightly higher” than previous years but emphasized that combo packages offer better value.

The Summit Bar at Pan Pacific Hotel, with its panoramic views of West Lake and Truc Bach Lake, is selling tickets at nearly VND1 million for adults and VND500,000 for children aged 6–12.

Silk Path Boutique Hanoi Hotel is hosting a fireworks viewing party overlooking Hoan Kiem Lake.

The hotel’s representative said that Vietnamese customers are increasingly willing to spend on unique experiences like watching fireworks from exclusive, uncrowded spaces.

The hotel expects its fireworks packages to sell out, as they did on New Year’s Eve.
