Runway Productions Malaysia and a 20-year journey of shaping a legacy on the runway

Marking two decades of leading the runway industry and model training, Runway Productions Malaysia recently held a milestone showcase, reaffirming its position as one of the region’s leading talent incubators. The event not only reflected on a remarkable journey but also opened up a forward-looking vision of a borderless fashion industry, where confidence and passion are the true measures of success.

From a runway dream to a leading talent academy

On March 31, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur, the elegant Majestic Marine space at Confetti KL became the center of attention as Runway Productions Malaysia officially celebrated its 20th anniversary. This milestone event marked its transformation from an event organizer into one of Malaysia’s most influential model training and development academies. Over the past two decades, the organization has consistently built an ecosystem where talent is discovered, confidence is nurtured, and real career opportunities are created. The anniversary event reflected the brand’s credibility and influence, attracting over 300 distinguished guests, including key figures in the fashion industry, renowned designers, and a wide network of strategic partners.

The 20-year journey of Runway Productions highlights its consistency in shaping new standards for the runway industry. From its early foundations to becoming a “launchpad” for generations of professional models, it has proven that a strong platform and a clear development path are essential to maintaining long-term leadership.

A multi-generational performance: Blurring the lines of age and standards

One of the most emotional highlights of the evening was the “Graduation Walk,” featuring 200 models across different age groups. From children as young as 5 to women at the age of 77, all confidently walked the professional runway together. This moment delivered a powerful message: the runway is not reserved for a specific group, but open to anyone who believes in themselves.

The showcase reflected Runway Productions’ training philosophy, where differences in background or experience can be overcome through discipline and determination. The image of multiple generations sharing the same stage created a meaningful narrative of continuity, where experienced individuals inspire the younger generation, while emerging talents bring fresh energy to the industry.

The event was further elevated by premium partners such as Sakurao Gin and Iwai Whisky, offering a refined experience for guests. In particular, the “Best Dressed Award,” sponsored by Desoin, added an engaging element of style competition. Winners were not only recognized for their fashion sense but also received exclusive beauty treatment packages, aligning with the event’s holistic approach to aesthetics.

A gathering of industry icons and strong networks

The prestige of the 20th anniversary celebration was reinforced by the presence of influential figures in the international fashion scene. Among the notable guests were Cyrus Chin, President of the Malaysian Official Designers Association (MODA), designer Keith Kee, and titleholders such as Byron (Mr Chinatown Global 2025) and Asyraf Dasley (Mr Tourism World winner). Their attendance served as a strong endorsement of Runway Productions’ credibility and position within Malaysia’s creative industry.

Alongside established figures, the event also highlighted emerging young talents. Seven-year-old Precious Annisa Dalimunthe moved the audience with her performance of “Anugerah Terindah,” reflecting the academy’s long-term vision in nurturing versatile talents from an early age. Meanwhile, Bernice, 3rd Runner-up in the Teen category at Malaysia Supermodel Search Kids 2025, brought dynamic energy with a Latin dance performance, showcasing the confidence and versatility developed through training.

One of the most touching moments of the night was the presentation of the “Lifetime Achievement Award” by founder Benjamin Toong to veteran actress and model Sherry Aljeffri at the age of 77. This recognition reaffirmed the event’s core message: dedication, relevance, and passion can transcend time. Sherry Aljeffri stands as a true symbol of the values Runway Productions aims to inspire in its students.

Strategic vision: shaping the future

After 20 years of success, Runway Productions Malaysia continues to move forward with clear direction. With a structured training pathway, from talent discovery and development to real-world industry exposure, the organization has built a comprehensive system that prepares models for international integration. The continued success of its graduates reflects the quality and impact of its training approach. Moving forward, the academy prioritizes creating more professional platforms and real-world opportunities for models to gain experience. Runway Productions remains committed to serving as a reliable bridge, helping talents not only present themselves confidently on the runway but also develop professionalism and a strong understanding of the market.

Looking back on its 20-year journey, Runway Productions has gone beyond organizing fashion events, it has built a community, a platform, and a lasting belief system. Under the leadership of founder Benjamin Toong and a dedicated team, Runway Productions Malaysia is set to continue its mission of shaping future generations of models and elevating Malaysia’s presence on the global fashion map.
