The best dressed stars of the bunch? It was those who gravitated towards sleek and demure designs. However, there were plenty pops of whimsy too, thanks to details such as ruffles, florals, and shimmer. At the Wicked premiere in New York City, for example, co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande represented both ends of the fashion spectrum.
Erivo looked elegant and subdued in her black Dior gown, while Grande paid homage to Glinda pink in her fuchsia satin Louis Vuitton peplum number. For the more refined wears of the week, stars like Angelina Jolie embraced a classic black LBD (hers by Saint Laurent); Jennifer Lawrence delivered an epic archival moment, thanks to her vintage Christian Lacroix gown.
Also shining in black was Demi Moore in a sequined McQueen number. For the more sweet and whimsical hits, however, the looks were more colorful and upbeat. Jodie Turner-Smith turned heads in her pink, asymmetrical Issye Miyake dress, while Céline Dion delivered drama in a floral and puff-shouldered Elie Saab number, for the label’s 45th anniversary show.
As for the most unexpected fashion win of the week? That goes to Rihanna, who stepped out for dinner in L.A. wearing a sporty Martine Rose tee with a fringed Jean Paul Gaultier skirt striking the perfect balance between casual and avant-garde—in a way only Riri can.
