The LGBT guy and a new journey at Global Student Fashion Week

Dinh Van Quang is a standout figure among the talented younger generation of students. Born in 2003 and currently studying Communication and Events at FPT Polytechnic, Quang not only impresses with his academic achievements but also shines on the fashion runway. As the Global Student Model Ambassador at Global Student Fashion Week (GSFW), he represents an inspiring image for modern youth.

Quang Dinh – Overcoming barriers of prejudice to prove himself

Global Student Fashion Week (GSFW) 2025 promises to deliver visually stunning and inspiring performances, solidifying its position as one of the ten most influential fashion weeks globally. Spanning seven days, featuring 150 designers from 30 training institutions worldwide, this event will undoubtedly serve as a platform where students’ ideas and aspirations come to life, opening countless doors for young individuals to get closer to their dreams.

Quang Dinh, a member of the LGBT community, has always drawn attention for his journey. Despite facing significant challenges, he has courageously broken through barriers to compete in beauty contests and engage in inspiring activities. He shared: “With the encouragement and wholehearted support of my friends, I embarked on a proud journey at the Miss & Mister 2023 competition and was warmly received with positive perspectives and views about myself and the LGBT community.”

Thanks to the constant support of his friends and family, Quang has achieved numerous accolades, including Second Runner-Up at Miss & Mister FPT Polytechnic 2023, Miss Communication, Best Evening Gown Performance, Runner-Up in The Content competition, Winner of the Track to Trend fashion design contest, leader of the charitable project Mang sắc màu vẽ ước mơ (Painting Colorful Dreams) for disabled children at Thanh Tam Shelter, and First Prize at the Heritage Night Festival. Furthermore, he was a key member of the organizing team for the Cổ Nhạc Kinh Kỳ (Hanoi Ancient Melodies) event.

The aspiration to reach his dreams

As an LGBT individual, Quang has encountered numerous difficulties, obstacles, and even derogatory remarks. However, he has never given up. Instead, he strives tirelessly to develop himself, not to appease detractors but to grow and live authentically.

Through his challenging journey, Quang has always had the support of his mother and close friends. During tough times, they have encouraged him to stay positive, think optimistically, and follow his heart as long as it leads down the right path. Quang shared that his mother once told him: “Be yourself and find happiness on the path you choose.” This advice has motivated him to continually strive for excellence, balancing his studies with practical experiences in the arts. He meticulously plans his schedule, dedicating time to academic pursuits while actively seeking opportunities to improve his skills and explore the artistic field. Driven by a strong desire to become a versatile artist, Quang works diligently, making every effort to grow.

Like many Gen Z individuals, Quang actively embraces new challenges and opportunities, pushing himself to diversify his experiences. This proactive approach has not only left meaningful marks on his life but also created an inspiring path for other young people. He lives by the motto: “Nobody in this world is perfect. As long as you are true to yourself, stay positive, and keep striving, you will achieve what you want. I believe that if I can do it, so can you.”
